Adjective

The word that qualifies Noun of Pronoun it termed as adjective.

वह शब्द  जो संज्ञा ओर सर्वनाम की विशेषता दिखाये विशेषण कहलाता है।

Adjective को निम्न प्रकार बनाया जा सकता है.

  • Adjective of number
  • Demonstrative adjevtive
  • Distributive adjective
  • Proper adjective
  • Interrogative adjective
  • Possessive adjective

(1) Adjective of quantity

An adjective that shows the number of uncountable nouns is called an adjective of quantity

Ex little, much some, a lot, of, etc.

वह विशेषण जो अगणनीय संज्ञा की मात्रा दिखता हो, परिमाणवाचक विशेषण कहलाता है।

Note यदि adjective of quantity के बाद noun use नही होता है तो वह indefinite pronoun बन जाता है।

Ex

Much (adj.of quantity) water is wasted today.

I had a lot of money, Much (indefinite pronoun) has been donated.

(2) Adjective of quality (गुणवाचक विशेषण)

The adjective which shows the quality of nouns is called the adjective of quality.

Ex. Bad, good beautiful, intelligent, rich, tall. etc.

वह विशेषण जो संज्ञा की गुण दोष दिखाता हो, गुणवाचक विशेषण कहलाता है। 

(3) Adjective of number संख्यावाचक विशेषण

The adjective which shows a number of countable nouns is called the adjective of number.

Ex:

many few, some, a lot of, one, two, a. an, etc.

वह विशेषण जो गणनीय संज्ञा की संख्या दिखाता हो संख्यावाचक विशेषण कहलाता है। 

Note यदि Adjective of number के बाद noun use नही हो रहा है होता है तो वह Indefinite pronoun बन जाता है। 

Ex.

Many (Adj of number) students are waiting for the teacher,

There are fifty students in my class, many (Students) are intelligent.

(4) Demonstrative adjective संकेतवाचक विशेषण

The adjective which points out any noun is called. Demonstrative adjective.

Ex This, that, these, those

वह विशेषण जो किसी भी संज्ञा की तरफ संकेत करता हो संकेतवाचक विशेषण कहलाता है। 

Note यदि Demonstratitive adjective के बाद noun use नही होता है तो वह Demonstrative pronoun बन जाता है।

This (dem. adj) books is mine.

This (dem. Pro) is my book.

This (dem. adj) car is mine.

This (dem. pro) is my car.

(5) Distriburtive adjective बंटनवाचक विशेषण

The adjective which distributes noun is called distrubutive adjective.

Ex. Each every either, nighter etc.

वह विशेषण जो किसी भी संज्ञा को बांटता हो बंटनवाचक विशेषण कहलाता है।

Note यदि Distirbutive adjective के बाद noun use नही होता है तो वह Distirbutive pronoun बन जाता है।

Ex

Each (dis.adj) boy is intelligent.

Each (dis. pro) of the boys is intelligent.

(6) Proper adjective व्यक्तिवाचक विशेषण

The adjective which is made of a proper noun is called proper adjective

Ex: Indian, American Chinese, Russian, etc.

वह विशेषण जो व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा से बना गया हो व्यक्तिवाचक विशेषण कहलाता है।

Note

यदि Proper noun के बाद noun use नही होता है तो वह common noun कहलाता है।

Ex.

The Indian (adj.) people are honest.

Indian (common noun) is always honest.

(7) Interrogative adjective प्रश्नवाचक विशेषण

The adjective interrogative adjective which is used in asking any question is called interrogative adjective.

Ex. Which, whose, what, etc.

वह विशेषण जो प्रश्न पूछने के प्रयोग में आता हो उसे प्रश्नवावचक विशेषण कहते हैं।

Ex

Which book do you like most?

Whose father has done this?

(8) Possessive adjective अधिकारवाचक  विशेषण 

The adjective which shows possession on noun is clled possessive adjective.

Ex.

My, our, your his, her, its, their.

वह विशेषण जो किसी भी संज्ञा पर अधिकार दिखता हो उसे अधिकारवाचक विशेषण कहते है।

Note यदि Possessive adjevtive हमेशा noun के पहले उसे होता है।

Ex

He is my friend.

She is his girlfriend.

He is her uncle.

She is my sister.
