Past Simple Tense
Definition
It represents an action that is completed at a given time in the past.
यह ऐसा कार्य दर्शाता है जो past के किसी दिए गए समय पर पूरा हो गया हो।
यह Tense पूर्ण समाप्ति का सूचक है।
This tense is an indicator of complete cessation.

यदि sentence में it is time/it is high time/it is about time use हो रहा हो इनके बाद बाले भाग में हमेशा simple past tense use किया जाता है।
- It is time you went to home.
- यह समय है जब आप घर गए।
- It is high time you slept.
- यह उच्च समय है जब आप सोए।
- It is time you met him.
- यह समय है जब आप उनसे मिले।
Past simple tense
Rule 1
ऐसे वाक्यों में हमेशा verb की 2nd form (past tense) का ही प्रयोग होता है. Person number व gender से कोई अंतर नही पड़ता है

- My brother left for Mumbai yesterday.
- मेरा भाई कल मुंबई के लिए रवाना हुआ ।
- It rained heavily last night.
- काल रात भारी बारिश हुई।
- We visited Delhi last year and saw the India gate.
- हमने पिछले साल दिल्ली का दौरा किया और इंडिया गेट देखा।
Rule 2
⇒ Negative नकरात्मक
Negative Sentence नकारात्मक ऐसे वाक्यो का Negative बनाने के लिए सदैव Did not का प्रयोग किया जाता है किन्तु verb को 1st Form में बदल दिया जाता है।

Example
- I did not play cricket .
- मैंने क्रिकेट नहीं खेला।
- You did not go to school .
- तुम स्कूल नही गए।
- Rakesh did not write a story.
- राकेश ने कहानी नहीं लिखी।
Past Simple Tense
Rule 3
Past Indefinite Tense के Interrogative वाक्य सदैब did से आरम्भ होंगे did के बाद subject फिर verb की 1st form आती है. यदि question word अर्थात wh से प्रश्नवाचक बनाना हो तो सबसे पहले wh आएगा उसके बाद Did आएगा.
